JCM students

The Department of Journalism and Creative Media

The Department of Journalism and Creative Media (JCM) was formed in the fall of 2016 after a merger of the Department of Journalism and the Department of Telecommunication and Film. Home to award-winning faculty who bring significant professional media experience and advanced academic training, the department empowers students to be analytical storytellers who utilize a diverse array of media to reach various audiences.

The united department emphasizes a combination of advanced writing and production skills in an academic framework to ensure graduates are media professionals who understand the social and critical underpinnings of their work and have the technical and managerial skills to adapt to the professional landscape. JCM graduates serve in leadership roles across the globe in all forms of media.

The department approved a strategic plan in April 2019. It can be found here.
