“Documenting Madrid: Movimiento de Mujeres (Women’s Movement),” study abroad program offers students across disciplines, the opportunity to engage media praxis – theory, practice, and critical reflection – to study the lives, work, art, activism, and culture of women in Madrid, Spain.  Students will learn the history of women in Spain, study women’s activism and cultural production, and work with organizations such as Amnesty International, study in the architecturally-stunning Caixa Forum and the Librería de Mujeres (Women’s Bookstore), and live just steps from the Prado Museum.  Working individually and in small production groups, students will create short documentary portraits (photo essays, digital stories, and documentary videos) about women’s lives, women’s organizations, art, activism, and Spanish culture that they encounter in Madrid. There is no technical skill required.  Students will have access to the latest digital media technology through the Telecommunication and Film Department, and will receive hands-on technical training prior to departure.  This course does not require language proficiency.

Your financial aid will pay for this course and scholarships are available! Open to any US college student!!! No tech skills or language proficiency is required!
